This page exists to disclose who advertises with Dominican Leaf. We sell digital advertising displayed alongside the content on dominicanleaf.com. That’s it. We do not sell cigars, have a print magazine, or offer consulting services.
Advertising is offered almost exclusively to cigar companies and retailers, many of which we cover in our reporting.
Like any professional media outlet, there are pros and cons. The most important pro is that these companies enable Dominican Leaf to operate full-time, allowing us to produce deeper and broader content than we could if we were working additional jobs. The most obvious con is that this presents a potential conflict of interest.
Conflicts of interest are unavoidable in for-profit media, and even in many non-profit outlets. Transparency is essential. That is why we maintain a clear separation between editorial and business and provide this page to inform readers who funds our operation.
We also include disclosure in every review regarding whether a company is currently advertising with us and whether the cigar was purchased or provided for review. We haven’t been perfect, but we continually work to improve transparency.
From day one, our ethos has always prioritized editorial integrity over business interests. Companies have canceled advertising due to critical reviews, and we respect that decision. What we never do is alter our coverage or write differently about a company for advertising reasons.
If after all this you still have doubts about our impartiality, we understand. As the owners, we decide how Dominican Leaf operates, but as a reader, you have full authority over what you read and trust.
